AJ and the Punker

I landed my new PB 9 lbs 6 oz on the big plunker last month. It was 610am at Lake Casitas and I was the only one on the water. I had yet to land a fish on the bait although I had some half-ass blow-ups on it in the past. I make a mammoth cast out across a tule point in a cove I hadnt fished in over a year. The cast gets a little away from me and it lands about 5 yards further from the tules than I would have liked.(about 10-12 yards total) I start to work the bait in a rythmatic swoosh,,,swoosh,,,swoosh. About half way home (or 25 yards form the boat) as Im looking in all directions thinking about how lucky I am to be on the water in this thick fog…..BOOOOOOOM!!! What the @#$% was that! Oh @#$% thats my bait, where the @#$% did it go? @#$% AJ, thats a fish, apply pressure, set the hook, DO SOMETHING!!! After gathering myself somewhat I finally get some pressure on the fish only to have her go completely airborn. OH @#$%, thats a @#$% toad,,dont lose it, be calm, dont horse it, get her to the boat, get the net, its cool, relax, PULL IT TOGETHER YOU ROOKIE!! After getting her head turned I start making progress and she is well on her way to the boat when she decides shes not ready to cooperate. She pulls 10-15 foot of drag of the 50 lb. braid straight down. Oh @#$%!! Im only in 12 feet of water here, please dont get in the trees, please stay out of the trees,,I could have sworn I had the drag buttoned down..how the @#$% did this fish spin me like this. After a bunch of panic that was probably a little unwarranted I get the fish boat bound once again and this time it feels like I may have the upper hand. I see a flash of white and decide Ive got enough line in to land this horse. I reach down with my right hand grab the net and in one sweet motion,,SWISH..its over! YEEEEEEE@#$%INHAW!!! What a rush! I went on to catch a 5 pounder and miss a fish that may have been even bigger than the first one on another enormous blow-up that morning. All before 8am. Wow, what a day! Thanks again for a great product and I wish you and your business continued success.
